I was recently visiting family in California, and I had the opportunity to teach my 6 year old cousin how to play my favorite game. I call the game “Wisdom of the Ages.” Here’s how to play: You walk into an old book store, stand next to a case, close your eyes, and focus intently on asking the universe/god/higher power a very specific question. Stay quiet for a moment as you intend to receive an answer. With your eyes closed, reach out and grab a book… Without looking, flip to a page and point. Therein lies your answer.
For those of you who are spiritually in tune, you probably play your own version of this game (another favorite is “The Shuffle Game” on my iPod, where you basically do the same thing except press “shuffle” when you’re ready to receive an answer to your question.) My cousin, whose mother is seeking enlightenment by way of Jerry and Esther Hicks, or “Abraham”— but rarely shares her newly acquired understanding of the inner workings of the universe with her girls— was fascinated, and maybe a little freaked out, as I grabbed a book from our grandmother’s book shelf, asked “What does God want me to know?” and pointed to “it is only but God who knows it” in the book, Love Letters from Great Men.
Oh, how I would love to have a library like this one day…Reminds me of the library in Beauty and the Beast. I guess I’m still a Disney Princess at heart…
